From a mounded Japanese garden to perennial beds with the ultimate
water feature – the lake or the river as backdrop – residents of Charlotte are opening their garden gates for the first time to raise funds for public beautification projects that will benefit us all. Your self-guided tour booklet will allow you to visit, by foot and car, a wide range of private gardens down Beach Avenue to River Heights, and along our side streets. Among the tour’s many highlights will be a visit to a 1916 home where you will meet a professional stone mason whose skill has created a terraced 18-foot waterfall and pond highlighted by African lilies.
