The Charlotte Community Development Corporation (CCDC) was incorporated in 1999 in response to "Neighbors Building Neighborhoods" process.

The mission of the CCDC is:
“To provide a community based, fiscally capable, legal entity, to assist the Charlotte Community in its objectives of improving the quality of life for its residents while improving the economic health both of the local community and the larger region.”

CCDC's objectives include re-establishing a strong urban village, building on the history of the Charlotte harbor, and tying these characteristics to the economic revitalization in the neighborhood. CCDC is actively involved with the Charlotte Community Association, NBN Sector 1 and every local community organization. It has also been a key participant in planning for a number of port/harbor related projects.

DISCOVER THE HARBOR DISTRICT 2008

This year’s edition of Discover the Harbor District will be delivered in Charlotte starting on June 6th. This marks the 9th year of publication for this annual magazine that contains a directory of neighborhood organizations and businesses, historic photographs and a list of community events. The focus of this year’s volume is the Charlotte Genesee Lighthouse. Included are maps and photos that are seldom if ever seen. My thanks to June Codding, who donated many Codding family album photos about the longest serving lighthouse keeper.

The books will once again be ably delivered by Mother of Sorrows Boy Scout Troop 130. Thanks to Len Angie and a devoted group of scouts and their parents, the books will be delivered to all Charlotte residents and businesses.

This year’s extraordinary cover photo was taken by Carla Palumbo, our NW District Councilmember; she also wrote the introduction. Thank you, Carla!

This publication is sponsored by NBN Sector 1, the Charlotte Community Association, the Ontario Beach Park Program Committee and the Harbor Merchants Association. This year, $2000 in additional funding was obtained through a NeighborGood Grant from the Community Foundation.

Volumes 1-8 of Discover the Harbor District are available on a DVD and cover the years 2000 through 2007. This limited-edition DVD is available for $15.00 and is only available at the Harbor and Carousel Festival in June or by mail order for an additional s/h fee.
